How the Waitlist Works

How the Waitlist Works

If an event is sold out, you may be able to join the waitlist. When a ticket becomes available, you'll be notified and given a limited window to complete your purchase.

Joining the waitlist

On a sold-out event page, click Join Waitlist and enter your email address. You'll receive a confirmation email that your spot has been reserved.

Waitlist spots are assigned in FIFO order — first in, first offered. Your position in the queue is determined by when you signed up.

Getting an offer

When a ticket opens up — because of a refund, a released held ticket, or the organizer adding capacity — the next person on the waitlist receives an offer email with a direct purchase link.

You have 24 hours to complete your purchase from the time the offer email is sent. If you don't purchase within that window, your offer expires and the ticket is offered to the next person in the queue.

What counts as a ticket opening up

  • A buyer cancels or receives a refund on their order
  • A checkout session expires before payment is completed (held tickets are released)
  • The organizer increases the ticket type capacity

If your offer expires

If the 24-hour window passes without a purchase, you're removed from the waitlist for that ticket type. You can rejoin the waitlist if the option is still available on the event page.

You'll receive an email when your offer expires so you know your window has closed.

Tips

  • Add the organizer's email domain to your contacts so the offer email doesn't land in spam.
  • Check your email promptly — 24 hours goes faster than you'd expect for popular events.
  • If you need tickets for multiple people, note that waitlist offers are for individual tickets. If the event has multiple ticket types, you may need to join separate waitlists.

Questions about a specific event?

Contact the organizer directly using the contact link on the event page. Equaticket support can't control waitlist position or extend offer windows — those are managed by the platform automatically.
