Per-Ticket Attendee Names
Turn on attendee names for a ticket type and buyers must enter a name for every ticket of that type they buy. Use it when the people attending aren't the person paying, such as group bookings or team registrations.
Turning it on
- Open your event in the dashboard and click Edit ticket types.
- Open the ticket type (click its edit button).
- Expand Advanced settings and tick Require a name for each attendee at checkout.
- Click Save changes.
You can mix ticket types that require names with ones that don't in the same event.
What buyers do
At checkout, a Name field appears for each ticket of that type, and the buyer can't continue until every one is filled in. Only a name is collected, not a separate email for each attendee.
Buyers can add or change a name themselves until the event starts, after which names are locked. Send buyers who ask to Adding or Changing an Attendee Name. Organizers can't edit attendee names from the dashboard.
Where the names show up
- Check-in: the scanner shows the attendee name. If a ticket has no attendee name, it shows the buyer's name instead.
- Orders: each ticket in an order shows its attendee name.
- Attendees export: the Name column holds the attendee name, or the buyer's name when there isn't one.
- Public API: attendee objects include
attendee_nameandattendee_email. See Public API.
The ticket's QR code doesn't depend on the name, so changing a name never invalidates a ticket.
For tickets you issue yourself from Orders, the guest names you enter work the same way. See Issuing Comp and Cash Tickets.
